Precision shafts and ball bushings

Our range includes precision shafts and ball bushings for every possible application in mechanical and plant engineering. With our linear ball bushings, you can choose between a variety of standard LME ball bushings and a wide range of other types, including lightweight and adjustable ball bushings. Each model is characterised by low-friction movement and infinite stroke. Through collaboration with our technology partner THK and manufacturer Samick Precision—part of the THK Group—our offering comprises ball sleeves that meet both European and Asian standards. And excellent quality is always guaranteed.

Thanks to hard chrome plating, the high-precision shafts in our range offer excellent surface quality and dimensional accuracy. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are looking for a cost-effective solution for linear motion applications with precision shafts and ball bushings. We are also happy to offer assistance for short-term processing of shafts, for example in the event of machine failure.

FAQ – Answers about Precision Shafts and Ball Bushings

Do you have questions about our precision shafts and ball bushings? Here you’ll find helpful information about function, assembly, lubrication and custom versions. Clearly summarised to help you quickly find the right solution.

What is a ball spline or ball grooved shaft?

Ball spline and ball-grooved shafts are anti-rotation shaft guides, in which the balls circulate between the shaft and the nut in finely ground bearing grooves. In this way, it is possible to transmit torque while performing linear movements.

Yes, as with a conventional ball bushing, the balls are held in place by a cage. When removing, however, care must be taken to ensure that the bushing and thus the lugs on the wiper are not twisted. Therefore, before inserting the shaft into the torque ball bushing, it must also be checked that the ball tracks and the lugs of the seal are in line.

Yes, we can supply you with the following torque shafts:

  • Torque shafts cut to the required dimensions
  • Shafts or hollow shafts machined to customer drawings
  • Reworked torque ball bushes, e.g. with additional holes or flattening on the flange

Our ball bushings are preserved with an anti-corrosion oil and are greased by the customer during assembly. Relubrication interval: Under normal conditions every 6 months or after 100 km.

The following applies to standard ball bushings: max. inner diameter (d as per catalog) – min. shaft diameter = max. play.
For example, for LME30 and 30h6 shaft: 30.011 – 29.987 = 0.024 mm.
However, as at least 2 shafts are generally used for a ball bushing guide, the play is reduced by misalignment and shaft offset. If a backlash-free guide is required, slotted BB with slotted, adjustable housings can be used.

Mixing different types of grease can lead to deterioration in the performance of the lubricants and should therefore be avoided wherever possible. If a user replaces grease, he should remove the old grease completely and fill in new grease.

The preload is a load acting on the rolling elements inside the bushing to eliminate existing play and increase the stiffness of the bushing and to realize high-precision movement.
