Safe exit to the terrace: with miniature safety edges from Mayser

The initial situation

The opening and closing of the ceiling elements of the terrace exits from Swiss staircase manufacturer Columbus is automated via the building control system and a weather station. The engineers had several options available to ensure accident protection during automatic closing. They decided in favour of the safety edge option. And in favour of Bachofen.

Bachofen’s solution

With the miniature safety edges from Bachofen’s technology partner Mayser, which are renowned for their reliability, Bachofen immediately came up with a solution that was convincing in every respect. The decisive factor was the anti-pinch profile of the Mayser products, which has been tried and tested in countless safety applications and guarantees not only absolute functional safety but also the desired flexibility during installation at the shear and pressure edges. The safety edges serve as tactile pinch protection that reliably prevents accidents by immediately stopping the closing movement of the cover element when touched. Another important plus point for the design-oriented company was the visually and mechanically unobtrusive integration into the design concept of the ceiling element. By providing test material, Bachofen was able to demonstrate that the miniature safety edges from Mayser fully fulfil the complex requirements of this application.

«Bachofen's expertise in safety technology is invaluable to us. Our customers also benefit from it indirectly.»
